PEMDAS / BODMAS Hierarchy
Expressions are evaluated in strict priority order:
- Parentheses / Brackets
- Exponents & Factorials (xʸ, n!)
- Multiplication & Division (left to right)
- Addition & Subtraction (left to right)
For example, 3 + 4 × 2 evaluates to 11, not 14.
Degrees vs. Radians
Angles can be measured in degrees (where a full circle is 360°) or radians (where a full circle is 2π radians ≈ 6.28318 rad).
In Degree mode, sin(30°) = 0.5. In Radian mode, sin(π / 6) = 0.5. Ensure your mode matches your problem specification.
Natural Log (ln) vs. Common Log
log(x) is base 10: log(1000) = 3 because 10³ = 1000.
ln(x) is base e (Euler's number ≈ 2.71828): ln(e²) = 2. Natural logarithms are central to continuous growth, decay models, and calculus.
